Who should consider lung cancer screening?
The American Cancer Society reccomends lung cancer screening for individuals who meet the following criteria:
- Age: 50 to 80 years old
- Smoking History: Current smokers or former smokers who have quit within the past 15 years
- Smoking History: A history of smoking the equivalent of 20 pack-years or more (i.e., one pack per day for 20 years or two packs per day for 10 years)
- No Symptoms: Individuals who do not currently have symptoms of lung cancer
To schedule a lung cancer screening, your primary care provider (PCP) must order the screening. If you're unsure whether you qualify or if it's the right time for you, we encourage you to discuss it with your PCP, who can help assess your risk and determine if screening is appropriate. Lung Cancer screening can be scheduled at either Concord Imaging Center in the Pillsbury Building and at Horseshoe Pond.
